Brower Named Interim CEO at American Council on Renewable Energy

Washington, D.C. - July 31, 2013 - Michael R. Brower, Senior Federal Policy Director at Mosaic Federal Affairs, LLC a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, has been named Interim CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE).

Brower's appointment becomes effective in August and he replaces outgoing ACORE President and CEO Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn in September. McGinn was nominated by President Obama to serve as the next Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, and Environment. McGinn's appointment awaits U.S. Senate ratification. Brower is co-chair of the committee searching for ACORE's next president and CEO.

ACORE is a Washington-based non-profit organization that supports the development of renewable energy through finance, policy, technology and market development.

Brower, a former Naval officer and aviator who flew 43 carrier-based combat sorties during the first Iraqi War, has been with Mosaic since its founding in 2006. There, he represents clients seeking federal and state governmental affairs advice and assistance particularly for matters dealing with project-enabling legislation, energy policy and tax
matters and federal and state agency project awards including applied research and development.

Brower has long been engaged in energy policy matters and helped draft the first-ever Energy Title (IX) in the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the Energy Infrastructure Act of 2007 and the Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.

"This appointment underscores the reach and importance of Michael's work in energy," said John P. Langan, Managing Partner of Hiscock & Barclay. "His understanding of the field makes him a great resource to Mosaic's clients as well as to Hiscock & Barclay's."

"Michael's appointment to ACORE is a testament to his reputation and expertise in the renewable energy arena and will only serve to enhance and complement the work done for the firm's energy clients. We are proud to see him at the helm of the national leader on renewable energy," said Richard R. Capozza, Chair of Hiscock & Barclay's Energy Practice Area.

Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, listed as a "Top 250 Firm" by The National Law Journal, is a full-service, 200-attorney law firm, with offices throughout the major cities of New York State, as well as in Boston, Washington, Newark, N.J. and Toronto, providing comprehensive legal and business counsel to a diverse client base in 30 practice areas.
