Hiscock & Barclay offers a summer associate program for qualified second year law students interested in obtaining experience in the practice areas of the firm. The program commences in late May and continues for approximately 11 weeks. All of our Upstate offices participate in the program and are committed to affording qualified law students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience of the technical and professional aspects of becoming a lawyer and practicing law. Summer associates work closely with our partners and associates in all of the firm's practice areas on actual client assignments. Summer associates devote a significant amount of time to researching various legal issues and drafting legal memoranda, but also have many opportunities to obtain first-hand experience in litigation and transactional work including observing depositions, trials and administrative meetings and hearings, attending closings for a variety of commercial transactions and drafting agreements.
Hiscock & Barclay's summer associate program has a proven track record of advancing the development of young lawyers. We frequently extend offers to participants in the summer associate program and as a result has successfully integrated new lawyers into the firm who demonstrate technical abilities, creative problem solving skills and commitment to client service.
